Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly has confirmed that the Department of Health has paused taking bookings at mandatory quarantine hotels due to a problem with 'walk-ins' or people who simply turn up rather than having booked online before departure.
Speaking on RTÉ's Six One News, he said that on a precautionary basis, his department has paused bookings to ensure there is capacity.
He said there is still a high level of walk-ins and this should not be happening. The minister said that some airlines are letting people onto planes who should not be let on and Minister Eamon Ryan is engaging with carriers about this.
