A man has been given the all clear after spending 31 days on a ventilator and two months fighting for his life with Covid-19.
Gregg Garfield fell ill after returning from a group ski trip in Northern Italy to his home in Los Angeles. He began to feel ill, prompting paramedics in full hazmat fear to whisk him to hospital for treatment.
The 54-year-old's body started shutting down as the virus took hold, causing his kidneys to fail and his blood pressure to plummet.
Gregg became septic and the colour of his hands turned black. He was heavily sedated and placed on paralytic drugs while medics intubated him, which involved placing a tube down his throat.
