PHILADELPHIA - Authorities in Philadelphia are investigating after a body was found in the back seat of a burning car early Tuesday morning. According to officials, police responded to a car fire in the area of Sylvester and Howell Streets in the Oxford Circle section of the city just before 1 a.m. Police say officers and medics arrived on scene to find a Honda CRV fully engulfed in flames. Once the fire department put out the flames, authorities say they realized there was a body in the back seat. The individual in the back seat was pronounced dead shortly after, according to Chief Inspector Scott Small, who says the body was burned beyond recognition. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESAuthorities say the inside of the vehicle was also completely burned and there is damage to the vehicle's exterior. According to police, the car was parked there just before 1 a.m. and two people got out before the vehicle went up in flames. The person's cause of death remains under investigation, Small says. This is a developing story.

LOWER MERION, Pa. - The parent of a 5th grade student at Bala Cynwyd Middle School is keeping his child away from school after he says he showed up on a "kill list" made by other students.The parent, who asked to remain anonymous, said they received a call from Lower Merion School officials on Mar. 27 - the same day six were killed in a school shooting in Nashville - and told their son had been threatened. "Other students suggested that a list be made of students within the building who they hoped are shot," the parent told FOX 29's Jeff Cole.

CHESTER, Pa. - The mayor of Chester called on state leaders in Harrisburg to dip into a multi-billion dollar rainy day fund to help the decades-long financially-strapped suburb of Philadelphia. Mayor Thaddeus Kirkland and members of city council will head to Pennsylvania's capitol in hopes to hammer out a plan to get $8 billion directed to Chester.The city of more than 32,000 has been designated a "financially stressed municipality" since 1997, and some believe it's in danger of becoming disincorporated and divided. As Chester tries to navigate turbulent financial waters, Mayor Kirkland claims the state-appointed receiver keeps preventing local solutions to Chester's money woes. PHILADELPHIA - A passenger's ride-share trip took a violent turn when police say they became the victim of a group of juveniles earlier this month.The juveniles surrounded the vehicle as it stopped at a traffic light at 2nd and Chestnut streets in Old City, according to authorities.Police say two of them reached in to try and steal the passenger's phone, then hit them in the face as the driver pulled away.MORE HEADLINES:It is unclear if the phone was stolen, or if the victim sustained any injuries.Surveillance footage captured the suspects on a SEPTA subway platform after the incident.Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
