Mouthwash could help reduce the transmission of coronavirus, researchers have found. Scientists are now calling for an urgent study into whether the over-the-counter dental product could slow the spread of the deadly bug.

Research by Cardiff University examined whether mouthwash could damage the fatty outer layer of the virus and render it useless, Sky News reports.

Whslow spile there is currently no clinical evidence that mouthwash could protect against Covid-19 infection, previous studies show it has been effective at tackling other viruses.
