National League to abandon season as 90 per cent of clubs vote to end campaign now

National League clubs have voted to abandon the season, it has been confirmed. The clubs held a meeting via video conference call and decided all remaining games in the three divisions will be cancelled due to the coronavirus.

It is understood 90 per cent of the 68 clubs responded in the vote and a clear majority were in favour. The League has still to decide what to do about those teams involved in promotion and relegation, insisting "options concerning the sporting outcomes of the 2019/20 season remain under careful & timely consideration" A National League statement said: "The League’s Board has chosen to communicate the decision now and before the last few responses are received, which will not change the outcome, to enable clubs to
