The National Public Health Emergency Team will meet today to review the latest position with Covid-19. It will also consider how around 100 people were given incorrect results of their tests, due to an issue with a German laboratory.
Some patients were wrongly told that their Covid-19 test had been negative and the Health Service Executive has apologised for the error.
It is also likely that the team will review the situation in nursing homes, which have been the location of around 45% of all deaths.
Today the team will also give a weekly update on testing. Around 80,000 people have been tested for the virus. A backlog of 11,000 cases is due to be cleared by the end of the week.
