Northern Ireland records 13 deaths and 592 new cases

A further 13 deaths associated with Covid-19 have been recorded in Northern Ireland, with 11 occurring during the past 24 hours.

It takes the official Department of Health toll to 1,792. There are 592 new cases from tests on 2,992 individuals. There are 768 confirmed Coronavirus patients in hospital, with 67 in ICU, 57 of whom are on ventilators.

The average seven-day infection rate per 100,000 population for Northern Ireland is 216.1, which is the lowest it has been since 22 December.

Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon remains the council area with the highest rate at 383.3, followed by Mid Ulster on 349.1. The council area with the lowest rate remains Derry and Strabane at 106.2 The Stormont Executive is today expected to approve a proposal
