The number of patients in hospital with Covid-19 has fallen slightly. As of this morning, there were 206 patients being treated for the virus, down 11 on yesterday's figures.

Of these patients, 34 are in intensive care units. The Department of Health was notified yesterday of 1,522 new cases of Covid-19.

Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan said over 20,000 cases have been reported over the past two weeks. He said 17% of these cases were in people who were fully vaccinated, which he said is "entirely in keeping with what we expect as an increasing proportion of our population get vaccinated." PHILADELPHIA - No one was injured after a gunman opened fire on a Philadelphia police officer during a shootout Wednesday afternoon in Germantown.Philadelphia Police Sergeant Eric Gripp told reporters that two plainclothes officers in an unmarked car were patrolling the 4800 block of Keyser Street around 2 p.m. when they came upon a shootout between a 23-year-old and a 20-year-old.
