The International Olympic Committee have announced that contingency planning for the Tokyo 2020 games is being ramped up as the global coronavirus crisis continues to obliterate the sporting calendar.
Olympics organisers still refuse to budge on their stance that the Games will not be cancelled but in a meeting today set a four-week deadline to come to a decision on postponing or scaling down the summer event.
The likes of US Track and Field, the Spanish Football Federation and athletes such as Team GB cyclist Callum Skinner have criticised the "wait-and-see" approach of the IOC and state that decisive action should be taken as soon as possible.
