Sir Mo Farah admits he was glad and relieved when the Tokyo 2020 Olympics were postponed. Olympic organisers along with the International Olympic Committee bowed to public pressure last week and postponed the Games until next summer due to the coronavirus crisis.
The decision was welcomed by most athletes, who had been left unable to train properly due to all facilities being closed because of the pandemic.
It remains to be seen how competitors are affected by the postponement. Some will have to reschedule their training programmes when possible, while others will suffer the heartbreak of now not being able to take part in 12 months time.
