Over 18s could be offered Covid jab 'within weeks' as Indian variant cases rise

Over-18s could reportedly be offered the Covid jab in a matter of weeks as the vaccine rollout is sped up and the Indian variant spreads.

From today, people aged 34 and over are able to book their vaccine but people in their twenties may not have much longer to wait.

More than a million people in their mid-30s will get a text message in the coming days inviting them to come forward for their Covid vaccine, NHS England said.

The vaccination programme is also set to extend to people in their early thirties "over the next few days and weeks", it added.
