Over 560 infected as ten virus clusters found at meat factories

The Department of Health has confirmed ten clusters of Covid-19 have been found in meat processing plants across Ireland, with a total of 566 people infected.

Twelve clusters have been identified at direct provision centres, and 149 cases of Covid-19. There have now been a total of 1,429 Covid-19 related deaths here, and over 22,500 confirmed cases.

At last night's briefing by the National Public Health Emergency Team last, Deputy Chief Medical Officer Dr Ronan Glynn said HSE control teams are in place for each cluster.

He said the team is taking a range of actions to prevent onward spread of the virus. Meanwhile, 12 clusters of infection have been found in Direct Provision centres, as well as 149 cases of the virus.
