He is currently a co-presenter of the ITV Breakfast programme Good Morning Britain from Monday to Wednesday each week. Morgan began his career in Fleet Street as a writer and editor for several tabloid papers, including The Sun, News of the World, and the Daily Mirror. Piers, who used to host Good Morning Britain with Kate before he quit in 2021, always had kind words for his former colleague during Derek's tough health battle.

Derek was hospitalised many times after catching Covid in 2020 and spent 13 months in hospital. He needed constant care even after leaving the hospital.
