Kate Garraway has made a statement following the death of her husband Derek Draper, saying "I hope you can forgive me" as she opened up to Good Morning Britain viewers.

The presenter also confirmed that she would be soon returning to the ITV show. Derek tragically died on Friday, January 5, after a lengthy battle with the complications of coronavirus.

In March 2020, he contracted the disease which left him with severe damage to his organs. Kate sent an email statement to her friends at the ITV show on Sunday, which was read out by host Susanna Reid on the show this morning, writes the Mirror.Kate confirmed that she would soon be returning to work and asked viewers to "forgive her for taking some time to be at home" following Derek's passing.
