Police have apologised after a man was arrested for allegedly breaching the coronavirus lockdown in south Manchester. GMP say the incident, footage of which has been widely shared online, "wasn't dealt with in the professional way we would expect." The footage shows a man being approached on a residential street in Fallowfield.
It has been reported online he had been moving a tree for his mother. Branches are visibly sticking out of the window of a car the man is stood next to in the footage.
Other reports, which GMP are not confirming, claim the man had been dropping off food for vulnerable family members. After speaking to him for a short time the officer then demands he puts his hands on his head and handcuffs him.
