A Laois-based charity that provides food hampers for families in need has launched an appeal to supermarkets and shops to place trolleys in their stores so shoppers can donate food items.
Portlaoise Action To Homelessness (PATH) has said its usual client base has almost quadrupled, as many 'non-essential' workers are living on Covid-19 payments and struggling to put food on their tables for their families during the lockdown.
The organisation said it's finding it difficult to keep up with a huge demand for food during restrictions. Before the Covid-19 outbreak, PATH supported around 30 local families in Laois each week.
