Postman does rounds in flamboyant costumes to raise spirits during coronavirus lockdown

A postman has been bringing some much-needed cheer on his daily rounds - as he's been donning fancy dress costumes in a bid to raise some smiles.

Dad-of-two Jon Matson has set up to "lift the spirits" in the neighbourhood he serves, and in recent days has dressed up as Little Bo Beep and an ancient Greek soldier.

The 39-year-old, from West Boldon in South Tyneside, decided to start wearing costumes after he was told he could no longer work alongside a colleague because of social distancing rules.

And he told the BBC there are plenty more fun outfits to come. Jon said the reaction he's had from the public so far has been "amazing".
