Pregnant women are being encouraged to get a vaccine to protect against Covid-19 in a new HSE information campaign. In a drive to deliver its message, the HSE National Immunisation Office (NIO) has created vaccine information videos in a range of languages.

Pregnant women are advised to talk to their obstetrician, midwife or GP about getting vaccinated, while women who are planning to get pregnant or trying for a baby are also encouraged to get a vaccine.

The HSE advice is that "getting vaccinated is the best way to protect you and your baby from Covid-19". It said the vaccine will reduce the chance of the woman becoming very unwell from the virus and reduce the chance of complications for the baby.
