Covid-19: Mumbai bars Metropolis Lab from testing for four weeks
Mumbai/ New Delhi: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Thursday barred Metropolis Laboratory, Mumbai's largest private laboratory, from conducting coronavirus tests for the next four weeks.The ban comes in the wake of complaints of delays in preparing covid-19 test reports."The lab has been barred from sample collection and testing for four weeks in BMC's jurisdiction," said a BMC official.A spokesperson for Metropolis was not immediately available for comment.According to a June 5 direction from BMC all covid-19 samples must be tested within 24 hours.Delays in report leads to delay in contact tracing thereby delay in treatment and in some cases, death, the BMC said.With 54085 cases, Mumbai has the maximum number of cases in the

Railways gears up to provide covid care centres to states with over 5k modified coaches
HYDERABAD : The Indian Railways is ready to provide COVID care centres to state authorities with a total of 5,231 modified coaches, with a patient capacity of 16 per coach, in trains with unit composition of 10 coaches.The coaches have been converted into quarantine facility by the zonal Railways.According to a release by the South Central Railway on Thursday, Uttar Pradesh has finalised 24 stations for deployment, while Telangana has asked for coaches to be stationed in 3 locations -- Secunderabad, Kachiguda and Adilabad.In Delhi, 10 coaches are stationed at Shakurbasti location.

Covid-19: 205 new cases and three more fatalities in Karnataka

Police: Philadelphia officer injured after suspect threw rock through car window
PHILADELPHIA - Philadelphia police say an officer was injured after a suspect threw a rock into his vehicle in Crescentville early Thursday morning.The incident occurred near the 1200 block of East Wyoming Avenue around 9:45 a.m.Police say the uniformed officer was driving in an unmarked patrol car with his front driver's side window down when an unknown person threw a rock into the car.The officer was able to drive himself to Temple University Hospital and is expected to be treated and released.
