Ideas for 20mph zones, protected cycle lanes and wider pavements have been put forward in Trafford - but the council said it already has "ambitious plans".
Green Party representatives in the borough want to see key workers protected as lockdown pushes more people away from public transport and on to the roads and towards walking or cycling to work, if they cannot work from home.
The councillors believe now is time for traffic measures to be put in place to keep all road users safe. Their ideas include an expansion of already successful schemes like the Active Neighbourhood programme in Urmston, which has seen cycle routes and walking routes improved throughout the area.
