COLOMBO (News 1st) – Sri Lanka is planning to designate the Ratmalana Airport for private aircraft in the future.Sri Lanka's Minister of Ports and Aviation told the Parliament on Wednesday (19) that the Ratmalana Airport will be used as a dedicated airport for private jets, as well as flying schools.He told the house that before he was appointed as the minister, a large sum of money was spent on converting the Ratmalana Aiport into an international airport, however, there were concerns surrounding the modus operandi followed in the upgrades.The Minister said the Maldivian Airline had expressed their interest to fly passengers to Ratmalana, however, following the opening of the airport the Maldivian Airline was reluctant to operate citing the situation in the country that prevailed..
