The Department of Education and public health authorities have agreed to carry out a review of public health measures in place in schools in light of the evolving situation with the Omicron variant.
Minister for Education Norma Foley, Chief Clinical Officer at Health Service Executive Dr Colm Henry and officials from the departments of Education and of Health met representatives from school management bodies and staff trade unions this morning to discuss the reopening of schools in the new year.
The Irish National Teachers' Organisation (INTO) said it set out the need for a detailed review of the past first term, and also called for the reintroduction of significant public health supports in schools.
