The Cabinet Covid Committee meets today to decide on the pace of lifting all remaining restrictions. The Government has promised a new roadmap setting out a timeline for lifting restrictions, including limits on live events, religious services and exercise classes.
The National Public Health Emergency Team wants more time to get more people vaccinated. Ministers will consider a NPHET recommendation that there should be no widespread further easing until 90% of those aged 16 and older are fully vaccinated.
That would take around six weeks - meaning no major easing until October. There are mixed views in Government on the proposal.
