NEW DELHI/MUMBAI : Several leading automobile manufacturers and dealers will have to sustain significant losses following the Supreme Court's decision late on Friday allowing sale of only 10% of the Bharat Stage 4 (BS IV) compliant vehicles stock, that is set to be phased out.
Further, the 10% of the BS IV inventory will have to be sold within 10 days of the end of the lockdown, except in Delhi and the National Capital Region, the apex court said.
Registration of vehicles sold before the lockown will be allowed in April and beyond. Auto dealers had approached the apex court to extend the deadline for transition to the Bharat Stage 6 (BS VI) emission norms from 1st April, as sales crashed in March in wake of the outbreak of covid-19.
