School pupils could be banned from wearing blazers and ties to help stop the spread of coronavirus. The ban would start in September when more children are set to return to school, meaning larger class sizes.

Earlier this month, some pupils returned to school for the first time in weeks with students and staff advised to wear fully-clean clothes everyday.

One school near Bradford has already said pupils will not be allowed to wear blazers, shirts and ties from September amid fears these items of clothing could spread Covid-19.

The chairman of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Independent Education, Conservative MP Andrew Lewer, says traditional school uniforms at "at risk of dying out".
