Scots cowboy tells of life on the range during pandemic as country's only Wild West town reopens

pandemic - but is now urging would-be gunslingers to mosey on down. Tranquility Wild West town, near Huntly, Aberdeenshire, is the brainchild of former teacher and postmaster Alistair Barron - who was so inspired by the Westerns of his youth that he set up his own settlement in the north-east.

He set up the town in 2005 after taking early retirement and seeing the success of similar ventures in England, and has even filmed small scale movies at the site.

It has proved a popular backdrop for major filming companies with even the BBC filming a new series of comedy sketches based on the multi-million selling Western-themed computer game Red Dead Redemption Two in 2018.The wooden buildings include the likes of a general store, bar and gunsmith,.
