A shameless Aussie bloke has spent his $750 (£366) coronavirus payment on eight cases of beer. The man, who has not been named, was one of six million vulnerable Australians to be given a one-off payment from the government to help stimulate the economy during the global health crisis.

But instead of buying essentials or putting it toward bills, he headed to an off-licence to stock-up on bottles of bitter instead.

In a video that went viral online, the bloke, who looks to be in his late 50s, says: "I've just spent my stimulus money, I've got eight slabs in there and that should last me about eight days."
