JURY sizes could be cut as a way of ensuring serious criminal trials go ahead during the pandemic.Senior justice figures believe reducing juries from fifteen would help with social distancing.However, at a virtual summit yesterday, it is understood there was little appetite for moves that could see judge-only trials.Jury trials were suspended last month in order to stop the spread of the deadly Coronavirus.The Scottish Government brought forward plans that could have made the temporary measure last for up to eighteen months, but the proposal was dropped after an outcry.A paper published by Justice Secretary Humza Yousaf laid out nine options for getting serious criminal trials back up and running.One was beefing up the power of sheriff
