PHILADELPHIA - The Philadelphia Zoo has welcomed a new adorable duo. The zoo announced the birth of two threatened sloth bear cubs born on January 2.The cubs were born to 10-year-old bear mom Kayla and 10-year-old dad Bhalu, marking the second successful birth of the species at the zoo in the last four years. The zoo's animal team is monitoring their health and their interactions with Kayla. Zoo officials say the sex of the cubs has not yet been determined and names have not yet been chosen. According to the zoo, sloth bears are found in lowland forests in India, Nepal and Sri Lanka.

ATLANTA - The Fulton County special grand jury investigating whether then-President Donald Trump and his allies illegally tried to overturn his electoral defeat in Georgia says they found that there was "no widespread fraud" in the state's 2020 presidential election.The report’s introduction and conclusion, along with a section in which the grand jurors expressed concerns that some witnesses may have lied under oath, were released Thursday. But any recommendations on potential criminal charges will remain under wraps for now.For nearly eight months, the grand jury has considered evidence and heard testimony from dozens of witnesses, including high-profile Trump associates and top state officials. While the special grand jury, by law, cannot indict anyone, the jurors voted to have their findings made public.In the introduction, the special grand jury states that they received evidence or heard from 75 witnesses during the investigation.

TAMPA, Fla. - Surveillance video caught the moments a stranger started attacking a Tampa woman and her efforts to fight back inside an apartment complex gym.The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office released video Wednesday from the incident back on January 22. Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister called the attack "disgusting," but was grateful 24-year-old Nashali Alma came forward. Investigators said they responded to the Inwood Park Apartment on West Waters Avenue moments after the attack occurred. Court records show the suspect, 25-year-old Xavier Thomas-Jones, lives at the apartment complex.Alma told deputies she was exercising alone that night.

PHILADELPHIA - Philadelphia police are investigating a double shooting in the city that left one person dead and another injured early Thursday morning. According to police, the shooting occurred on the 100 block of E Westmoreland Street in the city's North Philadelphia section just before 5 a.m. Officials say police arrived on scene and found two victims, including a 44-year-old man who was unresponsive and a 33-year-old woman who was shot in the leg. Both victims were rushed to Temple University Hospital, where the man was pronounced dead and the woman was placed in stable condition, according to authorities. Police say nine spent shell casings were discovered at the scene. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESAuthorities say a van that was struck multiple times by gunfire was found partially parked on the sidewalk.According to police, witnesses say the victim who died may have been driving the van. Police say no motive has been identified, but the investigation is active and ongoing.

PHILADELPHIA - A Maryland man who owned a dump truck that was involved in a head-on collision in Pennsylvania that killed a woman and her unborn child last summer was arrested Thursday. Patrick Doran was taken into custody by U.S. Marshals in Virginia on a number of charges, including first-degree vehicular homicide, related to the late-August crash in Lower Providence Township. Investigators say Everette Clayton, 56, was driving above the posted 25 MPH speed limit on South Park Avenue when he veered into oncoming traffic while trying to negotiate a curve in the road. The Ford F-650 Super Duty dump truck slammed into an oncoming Chevy Tahoe being driven by 31-year-old Kallie Adams, killing her and her unborn girl.Everett Clayton , 56, is charged in the August 2022 head-on crash that killed Kellie Adams and her unborn child.

Tunkhannock Township, Pa. - A silicone doll, a plastic bag and a suspicious location led to an interesting investigation in a Pennsylvania town. According to the Tunkhannock Township Police Department, officers were dispatched to the creek along State Route 307 in Overfield Township on Monday for a possible report of human remains. Authorities say a man and his child were getting a ball from the creek when they saw a plastic bag with what looked like a human foot sticking out of it. Officers and the county coroner came to the scene to observe the bag but did not touch or move it, per police. Officials say the foot was "extremely lifelike," and Pennsylvania State Police was called in to offer assistance. It was then that investigators determined the contents of the bag were not human remains. "We've seen this item referred to as a mannequin online.

Castro Valley - New details are surfacing about a hit-and-run in Alameda County that sent an older homeless woman to the hospital.Surveillance video showed a man deliberately hitting the woman with his car.The attack happened in the parking lot shared by a church and a supermarket on Grove Way in Castro Valley.Church employees said they've never seen the driver before and they're shocked by what happened.Surveillance video showed the driver of a white Nissan Sentra  nearly backing into the woman with a shopping cart in the parking lot.  They exchanged words. Moments later, he circled around, sideswiped her,  and knocked her cane out of her hand.Then he drove around again, stopped briefly, backed up and rear ended a parked car.Finally, he appeared to use his car to deliberately hit the woman, causing her to go up the hood and falling to the ground. The driver took off."It happened way over there.
