Spain's death toll from the coronavirus outbreak has risen by 410, down from 565 on Saturday, seemingly vindicating Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez's assertion that the country had "left behind the most extreme moments".
The latest figure marks the lowest daily increase in almost a month in one of the world's hardest hit countries. The total number of deaths stands at 20,453.
The daily increase was the lowest since 22 March and is far below the highest daily increase - 950 deaths reported on 2 April - in a sign of a slowdown of the spread of the virus after Spain imposed a strict lockdown in mid-March.
