The Italian minister for sport has admitted that the plan to resume football by May 3 was "too optimistic", sending a warning to the SPFL.
Italy has been hit harder by the coronavirus than any country in Europe, and has been on total lockdown since March 9. It was hoped that Serie A could resume in early May and finish by June 30.
That date was set out by UEFA as the deadline to complete domestic leagues, including the Scottish Premiership. With the UK behind Italy in terms of the likely peak of the COVID-19 outbreak, revealed that football may not resume until September.
