Scarecrows are popping up in front gardens across Bolton - all in a bid to celebrate key workers and cheer people up during lockdown.

Straw lookalikes of NHS nurses, bin men, farmers, and even Joe Wicks, have already made an appearance and more stuffed statues are set to join the parade.

Residents in Over Hulton were in search of a new way to raise money for the NHS as the coronavirus pandemic continues. Together, they came up with the 'Scare Off Covid' scarecrow festival, featuring lockdowns heroes in straw form.

Amateur artists are tasked with making a scarecrow to 'scare corona away' - and can build anything from real-world NHS heroes treating patients to comic book superheroes, witches and wizards who have flown in to help.
