A heartbreaking image shows a supermarket employee having to be consoled while breaking down in tears after being left to bear the brunt of furious shoppers.

The photo sparked outrage as it went viral on Facebook, as one told panic-buyers and hoarders they needed a 'God dam reality check' after some resorted to abusing staff as stores struggled to keep up with demand.
