Despite promising an immediate health boost, certain supplements can have dangerous side effects, according to a study.The research, published in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute, shows some popular vitamins and minerals in fact actually induce disease instead of protecting against it.Specifically, it was found that selenium and vitamin E could increase the odds of high-grade prostate cancer by up to 91 per cent.Researchers were forced to pause the experiment after discovering the negative impact that high doses of selenium could have, reports The Express.In addition to this, researchers believe some supplements offer no benefits whatsoever, just risks.Selenium is one of them, with researchers pointing out that overdosing on the
