CLIFTON HEIGHTS, Pa. - Police are investigating a shooting that may have stemmed from an altercation on Sunday afternoon. The incident took place at the corner of North Springfield and Oak Avenues, according to authorities. Witnesses say an Amazon delivery driver and a man driving a pickup truck got into an altercation and then a fistfight. After the fight, the Amazon delivery driver allegedly shot the other driver, according to witnesses. Police have not yet confirmed who was shot or revealed the identities of the people involved. Amazon did not respond to FOX 29's request for comment. This is a developing story.

HARRISBURG, Pa. - The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board (PLCB) on Sunday instructed all Fine Wine & Good Spirits stores and licensee service centers to remove Russian-made products from their shelves as a show of solidarity and support for the people of Ukraine. According to the PLCB, Russian-made special order products will also no longer be available.The PLCB made it a point to note that only two products stocked in stores are Russian Standard and Ustianochka 80-proof vodkas and about a half-dozen Special Order brands come from Russia."As of today, these products will no longer be sold or procured by the PLCB," said Board Chairman Tim Holden.

PERKASIE, Pa. - Officials have released the identities of the two men killed in when a single-engine plane crashed in a Perkasie neighborhood.The men were identified as 74-year-old Alfred George Piranian, of Chalfont, and 55-year-old Brian Fillippini, of Philadelphia. Both men died as a result of injuries sustained during the crash. It was revealed Friday that a report from the Federal Aviation Authority (FAA), the small plane with the two men aboard took off from Doylestown Airport with a destination of Gunden Airstrip. An NTSB investigator told reporters Thursday that the plane was a commercial instructional flight with one person onboard training for their commercial pilot's license. No one on the ground was hurt, but the crash sent flying debris through the wall of a home and into a second-floor bedroom. Hilltown Township Police Officer Christopher Englehart called the pilot a hero for managing to avoid homes that dotted the residential neighborhood. Residents recalled hearing the plane's engine cut out as it made its deadly descent.

PHILADELPHIA - Prosecutors in the trial of Amtrak engineer Brandon Bostian told jurors Bostian was "grossly negligent" when his train derailed in 2015 killing eight.Bostian, 38, is charged with 8 counts of involuntary manslaughter and hundreds of charges of reckless endangerment in the crash along the Frankford Curve.The prosecution in opening statements argued Bostian "had one job and it was to control the speed of his train", but he failed.Christopher Phillips, a prosecutor in the office of the Pennsylvania Attorney General, said Bostian "had no chance of making that turn" when all 7 train cars derailed while on the "most dangerous part of the track," the Frankford Curve.The defense lays the blame squarely on the backs of what it calls "criminals" who threw rocks at two trains that night as Bostian was rolling through on his train.The trial began Thursday for Brandon Bostian, the Amtrak engineer charged in a deadly high-speed derailment that occurred back in 2015 in Philadelphia."This is the fault of the rock-throwers," defense attorney Robert Goggin said. "They caused the catastrophe." The defense also claims Amtrak failed to take precautions knowing the rock-throwers were out there along the rails. The first witnesses were police officers and a medical examiner, who took jurors through a series of pictures and described the injuries of the dead.Another witness described, after being thrown from the train, and calling for help, she asked Bostian several times to use his cell phone to call her father before he relented and gave her the phone.One of those injured in the Amtrak Train 188 derailment last year was Lenny Knobbs.

PERKASIE, Pa. - Emergency crews are on the scene of a small plane crash in a residential area in Bucks County. The charred remains of the plane in the middle of the plane lay near the intersection of Morgan Lane and Victoria Lane the Perkasie section of Hilltown Township. A vehicle parked nearby also had heavy front-end damage. Authorities responded Thursday to a small plane crash in a residential part of Bucks County.

PHILADELPHIA - The Delaware Valley got an early taste of spring this week, but winter will return to parts of the area Thursday night and into Friday morning. A cold front that moved through overnight brought temperatures back into the 30s across the area Thursday morning. SALT LAKE CITY - Two Black Hawk helicopters were involved in a training accident on Tuesday near a Utah ski resort, officials said — and multiple witnesses to the incident captured the scene on video. None of those aboard the helicopter nor the dozens of skiers nearby were injured, officials said.The accident, involving two UH-60 Blackhawk helicopters, was reported around 9:30 a.m. MST near Mineral Basin at Snowbird ski resort, located just outside of Salt Lake City.

PHILADELPHIA - A Philadelphia community is rallying together to try to curtail crime and violence that has gripped their once peaceful neighborhood. Melissa Brannon, a 10 year resident of Fairmount, organized a town watch and for that last month has gathered with neighbors to strategize about how to make their community safer.  She was inspired to make a change after a recent spike in crime that included four broad daylight carjackings and a shooting in front of a popular neighborhood bar. Brannon recruited Anthony Murphy, the Executive Director of Town Watch Integrated Services, to lead the training. Fairmount neighborhood watch participants gathered to learn special training.

POLK TOWNSHIP, Pa. - A man involved in a drug-related robbery that ended with the fatal shooting of a 15-year-old boy in eastern Pennsylvania will now spend several decades in prison.Anthony Mitchell, 19, of Kunkletown, pleaded guilty Friday to third-degree murder, according to the Monroe County prosecutor’s office. He was then sentenced to 38 1/2 to 77 years in prison.Mitchell was among three people who stole $120 worth of marijuana in November 2020 from three teenagers who were sitting in a car in a Polk Township cul-de-sac, authorities have said.

POTTSTOWN, Pa. - A two-alarm fire burned through two homes in Montgomery County on Monday morning. According to fire authorities, it took place on the 300 block of Chestnut Street in Pottstown. One person was reported trapped after the first floor of one building collapsed into the basement. A firefighter was transported from the scene with a knee injury. Fire authorities confirmed one person died in the blaze. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. This is a developing story.

A second officer pushes the 15-year-old onto a couch but doesn't restrain him.The incident has prompted an internal affairs investigation and calls for disciplining the officers.

WEST PHILADELPHIA - A fire in West Philadelphia home Saturday afternoon sent a child to the hospital badly burned.Fire officials investigate a cause of the fire, but the child’s grandparents tell FOX 29 they believe a faulty extension cord started the fire. And, Saturday, they were asking for support and prayers for their grandson.The fire broke out in a house on Filbert Street near 42nd Street.

EAST FRANKFORD - Philadelphia Police are investigating after three men were shot multiple times in East Frankford.Officials say the shooting happened Saturday evening, around 6 p.m., on the 5300 block of Glenloch Street, in Philadelphia’s East Frankford section.Responding officers found two men, ages 18 and 19, suffering from gunshot wounds in their legs. The 18-year-old was taken to St Christopher’s Hospital for Children by medics and the 19-year-old was taken to Frankford-Torresdale Medical Center, also by medics.

CALN TOWNSHIP, Pa. - A man has been arrested for his role in an armed robbery that happened in Caln Township early Saturday. Police say Bilal Weidler, 19, was taken into custody while he was fleeing on his bike after he attempted to commit an armed robbery at knifepoint at the Turkey Hill on the 500 Bondsville Road. According to authorities, while the defendant was committing the robbery and directing the cashier to the register, a customer walking into the store startled Weidler. This caused him to flee prior to taking any items or money. Weidler then fled on a bicycle and was apprehended shortly after by Caln police that were responding to the scene a short distance away. Accordinig to authorities, Weidler was wearing a mask that was identifical to a mask worn during another knifepoint robbery that was committed at the same store earlier this month on Feb.

TRENTON - Gas prices continue to rise in New Jersey as crude oil prices remain high amid ongoing global tensions related to uncertainty over Russia’s intentions toward Ukraine. AAA Mid-Atlantic says the average price of a gallon of regular gas in New Jersey on Friday was $3.61, up five cents from last week. Drivers were paying an average of $2.72 a gallon a year ago at this time. The national average price for a gallon of regular gasoline was $3.52, up four cents from last week.

UPPER DARBY, Pa. - A former elementary school principal in Upper Darby has been arrested on child sexual assault charges, according to the Delaware County District Attorney.Police say 39-year-old Jonathan Wisneski of Springfield, Pennsylvania, was arraigned on Thursday afternoon. Bail was set at $150,000.He faces charges of intercourse/sexual contact with a student, indecent assault on a person under the age of 13, corruption of minors and endangering the welfare of children, according to the criminal complaint obtained by FOX 29.Wisneski has not worked for the Upper Darby School District since 2018 and he currently works at Devereaux Cares School in Downington, according to police.Authorities say there were allegations against him when he was principal in 2018 and those claims were investigated by law enforcement and the district attorney's office.

HARRISBURG - A Pennsylvania man is accused of torturing an employee in Iraq after the worker raised concerns about a project to produce weapons parts in that country, federal prosecutors said.Under a superseding indictment returned Tuesday, federal authorities accused Ross Roggio, 53, of Stroudsburg, with suffocating the victim with a belt, threatening to cut off one of the victim's fingers and directing Kurdish soldiers to inflict pain and suffering on the victim.Roggio and the Roggio Consulting Company were previously charged in 2018 with illegally exporting firearms parts and tools from the United States to Iraq as part of a weapons project in Kurdistan.

PHILADELPHIA - Philadelphia police have released surveillance video of a carjacking that occurred earlier this week as they search for a suspect.The incident occurred Wednesday morning, around 2 a.m. at the Amera gas station on the 4700 block of West Girard Avenue. Police say the victim pulled into the gas station in a white Toyota RAV4.

House of Commons debate on Prime Minister Justin Trudeau‘s use of the Emergencies Act to handle the so-called “freedom convoy” demonstrations has been cancelled on Friday.There is no indication at this time that the additional debate on Saturday, Sunday and Monday will be cancelled, and a vote is still expected to be held “early next week,” according to the government.A note from Speaker Anthony Rota noted the cancellation is spurred on by an impending police operation set to take place by Parliament Hill and around Ottawa’s downtown core.“The #HoC will not sit today, Friday, February 18. A police operation is expected in the downtown core of Ottawa.
