A sporty teenager has been left in a wheelchair after suffering from two ingrown toenails. Mum Linda Penney, 52, had no idea her musical and sporty son, Andrew, then 14, would suffer life changing complications after having his two ingrown toenails removed in October 2018.
Andrew was left in agony, unable to put his feet on the ground and needed a wheelchair as the operation had caused CRPS [Complex Regional Pain Syndrome] and allodynia, It meant he couldn't bear any touch to the skin without suffering from severe pain.
But despite his ordeal, Andrew, now 15, was recently accepted into the LTA's National Junior Wheelchair Programme after months of training.
