Terrifying close call as parents drag little girl back from edge of 400ft cliff

A little girl had to be pulled back by her family as she got dangerously close to the edge of a 400ft cliff. The terrifying photos show the child getting within inches of the cliff edge before she is dragged back by an adult.

The child's hair can be seen blowing in the strong wind as she peers over the drop at the notorious beauty spot. Tourists are frequently warned that the cliffs, located near Eastbourne, are dangerous and unstable.

The chalk cliffs often crumble and give way in bad weather. In its guide to Birling Gap, the National Trust warns: "It isn’t safe to sit or stand close to the edge of the cliffs, they may be unstable or undercut in places.  "We also advise visitors to stay away from the base of the cliffs when walking on the
