Coronavirus infection rates have gone up in three boroughs of Greater Manchester - but have fallen in seven areas. The region’s infection rate is now 91.9 cases per 100,000 population, compared with a national average rate of 55.3 in the week ending March 20.
A total of 2,605 people tested positive for coronavirus across the conurbation during those seven days. The weekly total has decreased by 165 cases compared to the previous week, which means the infection rate was down 6 per cent in the last week.
There were 41 Covid-19 deaths recorded in the region in this time, according to the latest data from Public Health England. That’s 11 fewer than in the previous seven days.
