The Queen is set to address the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth with a special broadcast about the coronavirus outbreak.
Buckingham Palace has said Her Majesty's message will be televised on Sunday, April 5, at 8pm. The address from her home at Windsor Castle will also be broadcast on radio, and will be shown across the Royal Family's social media accounts.
It is rare for the Queen to address the nation other than her annual Christmas Day message. It will be only the fourth time she has delivered this type of pre-recorded message amid devastating news in her entire 68-year reign.
Similar broadcasts came following the death of Princess Diana in 1997, and the most recent was when the Queen's mother passed away in 2002.
