Work has started to widen pavements on some of Manchester's main roads to enable people to socially distance as lockdown measures are eased.
Our pictures show the Curry Mile through Rusholme was closed off as footway widening begins on Wilmsow Road. It follows the temporary pedestrianisation of a section of Deansgate in Manchester city centre.
The work currently taking place on the Curry Mile is one of a dozen similar schemes throughout the city to widen footways to give people more space to walk, particularly to and from major transport hubs.
