During the pandemic most of the staff at Manchester Airport have been placed on furlough - but many have turned their skills to good use in the community.
The UK’s third largest airport remains open, handling a small number of essential flights each day from a single terminal. As the M.E.N reported last month, it's led to daily passenger numbers plummeting to 80,000 to around 500, and the furloughing of around 75 per cent of its 22,200 staff, with a 10pc pay cut for the entire work force until next March.
There's no doubt that this has hit hard for both the airport and surrounding communities - many of whom rely on the economic benefits of the hub.
