GMP won't be using drones or road-side checks to enforce the coronavirus lockdown, Chief Ian Hopkins has said. He spoke out after Derbyshire Police was criticised for using drones to film motorists parked up at a remote Peak District beauty spot.
After broadcasting the footage on its social media channels last week, Derbyshire Police was slammed for its 'draconian' move although its chief constable later defended the tactic.
In an interview with the Manchester Evening News, Chief Constable Ian Hopkins praised the behaviour of the 'vast majority' of people who have abided by the lockdown and he ruled out using drones or road-side checks to encourage compliance.
