Canon David Wyatt is helping to prepare food parcels for those who have fallen on hard times during the coronavirus crisis. Every day, between 15 and 20 packages are handed out from the vicarage at St Paul with Christ Church in Pendleton.
Most recipients were already struggling - the pandemic has just made a bad situation worse. "There are people knocking on the door from 7am to 10pm," said Canon Wyatt. "You can see from their faces they're desperate.
They're drawn, they're coming here as a last resort. "There were poor people here before all this and they are even poorer now." Coronavirus has taken a huge toll on Salford, which has recorded the worst mortality rate outside London in England and Wales.
