Pets were rescued from a home after their owner had been taken to hospital with coronavirus symptoms. A man living near Skelmersdale was rushed to Wigan Infirmary with Covid-19 symptoms - forced to leave his pets at home with no one to take care of them.

Three dogs and a budgie were inside the home. Worried neighbours informed social services that there were pets in the house and the RSPCA was called to rescue the pets.

But no-one could enter the house for 72 hours at the risk of contamination from the coronavirus. The RSPCA is now asking all pet owners to display a pet care form in their windows to ensure pets do not fall into neglect if their owner is too ill to care for them.
