NEW DELHI: At least three police departments in India plan to leverage people’s smartphones to help in quarantine initiatives during the COVID-19 crisis, Innefu Labs, the company that made the platform, told Mint. “We are mapping phones’ GPS locations and device IDs," said Tarun Wig, founder of Innefu Labs.
Innefu Labs is also the company that created the Delhi Police’s Automated Facial Recognition Software, which has been known to be at work for monitoring crowds during recent riots and protests in Delhi.
The three police departments are existing customers of Innefu Labs, said Wig. Innefu has created an app, internally called Unmaze, that will be leveraged by the authorities to keep people indoors.
