Senior IOC member Dick Pound has revealed that this summer’s Tokyo Olympics are going to be postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Sports across the globe have been impacted by COVID-19 with it unclear when the pandemic will end. Plenty of sports have been postponed or cancelled with the Premier League season in England not resuming until April 30 at the earliest.
And though the Olympics were not due to start until July 24, Canadian Pound has revealed that a postponement is likely. “On the basis of the information the IOC has, postponement has been decided,” Pound told USA Today. “The parameters going forward have not been determined, but the Games are not going to start on July 24, that much I know. “It will come in stages.
