A Tory MP has says that some parents "expect the Government to feed their children". Sally-Ann Hart said MPs must "not shy away" from the issue that some parents "just do not or cannot prioritise their children's needs over their own".
And she said the Government must "turbocharge" its efforts to understand why such neglect happens. Ms Hart said examining the root cause behind this is better than "throwing money at the problem", and outlined her support for a small state which protects individual freedoms and allows people to "take responsibility" for themselves and families.
She also argued a big state is "much more callous" as it "engenders dependency", insisting the Government cannot "take over a parent's job".
