A tourist claims to have been living in an airport's deserted departure area for 110 days due to the coronavirus pandemic. Roman Trofimov says he has been stranded in the Philippines during lockdown after getting stuck on a "dream trip" to southeast Asia.

In a bizarre saga reminiscent of the Tom Hanks film The Terminal, the Estonian national claims to have been eating and sleeping in Manila airport for months and washing in the bathrooms.

He is pleading to be rescued from the airport, where he has been in limbo since he arrived on an AirAsia flight from Bangkok on March 20.

Mr Trofimov can be seen sporting a long beard and shaggy hair in viral Facebook posts documenting his plight - in which he claims to be surviving on food and snacks
