Narendra Damodardas Modi (born 17 September 1950) is an Indian politician serving as the 14th and current Prime Minister of India since 2014. He was the Chief Minister of Gujarat from 2001 to 2014 and is the Member of Parliament for Varanasi. Modi is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), a Hindu nationalist volunteer organisation. He is the first prime minister outside of the Indian National Congress to win two consecutive terms with a full majority and the second to complete five years in office after Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
On March 24, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi ordered the biggest lockdown in history – 1.3 billion people effectively confined to their homes for three weeks.
It’s been hugely effective, driving a coronavirus outbreak that was doubling in size every three days, to one that was doubling every six days.
But it hasn’t been good news for everyone. Six foreigners who had run out of money, but were unable to leave the country as a result of the lockdown, were found living in cave in the Lakshman Jhula area in the pilgrim town of Rishikesh, northern India.
Rakendra Singh Kataith, station house officer of the local police station, told the Hindustan Times: “The group includes three women and three men.
