The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has issued an update on the repatriation of Irish citizens who are stranded abroad after flights were grounded due to Covid-19 pandemic.
Dozens of Irish people are trying to leave Peru and the DFA said: "Following a call between An Tánaiste and the Peruvian Foreign Minister, diplomatic clearance has been given for a repatriation flight now scheduled for Sunday. "Our Embassy in Santiago is in contact with our citizens on the ground in Peru keeping them informed. "A large amount of effort is also going into arrangements for the internal transport of our citizens, especially from Cusco to Lima.
